Investment in beauty products often goes beyond keeping good looks; sometimes cosmetics are strong allies in treatments that ensure the health of both skin and hair. One of the great examples are the products intended to combat dandruff, itchiness and oiliness of the scalp. This type of product guarantees not only the necessary treatment for this situation, but also the increase of the well-being of those who consume it.
With an eye on this market, several alternatives can be found. However, because this is a delicate region, the scalp, already with some damages, be the desquamation or inflammatory reactions, the decision on which active ingredient to use must be done cautiously. Otherwise, side problems may arise, such as allergies, dryness, redness, among others.
The possible therapies including pyrithione zinc, selenium sufide, azoles, allylamines, benzylamines, hydroxypyridones, among others. The interesting thing about these methods is that they are all based on the antimicrobial activity of the compounds, which can be extended to other active substances, that can provide a more complete and natural solution.
Melaleuca oil, for example, may be a suitable topical agent alternative with minimal inhibitory concentration, i.e., in vitro susceptibilities of dandruff-causing yeasts, ranging from 0.03 to 0.12 (by volume of melaleuca oil), higher than some imidazoles, such as miconazole and econazole.
Another study showed that melaleuca oil was effective (in vivo and in vitro) as an antifungal ingredient in the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis, applied in 5% essential oil shampoo well tolerated by the patients. However, an anti-inflammatory compound should be required to conduct a complete treatment.
AlphaComplete Hair was developed based on the synergy of the combination of natural ingredients, rich in antimicrobial properties, aiming at the reduction of inflammatory processes and the production of sebum, promoting cell renewal and combat the infection caused by microorganisms.
Its antibacterial, antiseptic and antifungal activities are attributed to the presence of terpinen-4-ol and α-terpineol. The bactericidal mechanism of these components is the impairment of integrity of the cell wall of microorganisms and the resulting escape the constituents cytoplasmic, metabolic and ions. This results in inhibition of breathing, making the bacterial cell incapable of maintaining its homeostasis and stay alive.
The Citrue Bisabolol present on AlphaComplete Hair acts on the inhibition of lipoxygenase and cyclooxygenase, blocking the biosynthesis of leukotrienes and prostaglandins, which are important chemical mediators of inflammation, leading to anti-inflammatory ways of action.
The benefits of AlphaComplete Hair in hair treatment include eradicating microorganisms, irritation, inflammation and excessive oiliness in order to clean and flush the follicle for that dandruff can be eliminated. This provide a more complete result, boosting the treatment against scalp diseases.
Clinical tests show that AlphaComplete Hair was effective to reduce the number of scales detached from the scalps of the volunteers. In this test, 33 participants (female and male) were oriented to use a shampoo (AlphaComplete Hair – 2%) at least three times a week, for 21 days.
A volunteer with 18 years old showed an improvement of 68% on the dandruff, which can be observed on figure 1, while the average of all the participants was almost 30%.
The excellent results of this 100% natural alternative for the treatment of the scalp can also be verified in the Cosmetic Appreciation, that is, in the indicator of purchase of this product: 85% of the evaluated participants liked and would buy the product, while 70% considered the product effective to reduce oiliness of the scalp. This shows a further spectrum of performance of the product: not only able to treat a problem already established, AlphaComplete Hair prevents the reappearance of dandruff, controlling the excessive oiliness of the scalp.
The same research also indicated that 73% considered the product effective in relieve itching of the scalp, easing the discomfort caused by dermatitis and 58% considered the product effective in reducing dandruff. And better, the synergy between the ingredients ensures less concentration of active ingredients in the final formulation, with the same effectiveness.
